What is ABA?
If your child has a diagnosis of Autism, you have likely heard of Applied Behavior Analysis, or better known as, ABA Therapy. But what is ABA Therapy and how can it create life changing opportunities for your child and your family? The U.S. Surgeon General, the National Institutes of Health, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Psychological Association consider ABA an “evidence-based, best-practice treatment” for Autism Spectrum Disorder. To make it simple, ABA therapy is a scientific and evidence-based approach that helps individuals learn and develop skills to manage their behaviors and improve their quality of life. By utilizing basic principles of behavior, focusing on positive reinforcement, ABA therapy can bring about significant and measurable change. It has been proven to improve communication, attention, focus, self-care and social skills as well as teach individuals coping strategies and to reduce challenging behaviors that make learning more difficult.
